Our Engagement Ring Process

Our Engagement Ring Process

1: Initial Consultation

We often meet with clients from all over the world, but our home base is in Lincoln Park. If you're ever in the area, stop by to say hello. :)

Whether you're working with us remotely, or meeting with us in person, an initial meeting is set up to kick off the process. Oftentimes this is done by email, however we can also accommodate video chats, phone calls or texts. During this time, we hope to understand your goals, timeline, inspirational designs and learn a little bit more about you and your partner. It's also okay if you're not sure, we can do our best to guide you through the process and help brainstorm ideas.
*We also recommend that you start this part of the process no later than 2 months before you plan to have the ring in hand. While we can accommodate most time crunches, we realize the process is more enjoyable when it's not saved for last. Once we get a pretty good understanding of where you're at and what your needs are we'll put together a thoughtful recommendation and plan of action.

2: Center Stone Selection

2a: If you're just starting off and exploring options:

If you're just in the beginning phases of exploring and deciding what you like, we'd be happy to show you what we have in stock as well as sample stones to get a feel for sizes, shapes, or colors and even check out designs and learn about the process. We find in some cases, clients are just looking and not yet ready to commit and that is totally understandable and in this case, we ask that you come in for a consultation first to see how we can best help. Book a discovery meeting here.

2b: If you are ready to commit:

One we have whittled down your preferences on the center stone and ideal budget range, we will curate a list of diamonds/gems sorting them first based on quality, and also compare it in the global marketplace to make sure the price is fair and competitive so we can get you the best value without sacrificing quality. Our best suppliers move their goods quickly, so options and availability are very fluid. It is important to understand that something you see today may not be available tomorrow, therefore starting this process closer to the time you're ready to commit is ideal
A whole lot goes on in between then. We literally go to work for you to compare prices, research the stone with our supplier, make sure that there are no flaws beyond the 4Cs (information generally available/disclosed to only trained professionals in the trade), and curate a list of the best of the best for you. If you're local we can sit down and do this together, using a database of our best and most trustworthy suppliers, many of whom are actual direct diamond sightholders and manufacturers with sterling reputations (no ties to conflict diamonds, or environmentally harmful mining practices and are honest and transparent with their quality of goods). We value our time and we value yours, so we do our best to minimize surprises. All too often something looks great on paper only to find there was just something off so we make sure the diamonds and gems pass the test before even proposing it to you.
Once you have confirmed your interest, we will secure the diamond/gemstone and get it shipped in for your viewing (if it's not already in house). Some of our suppliers ask that we commit within 2 days for the best cash prices which we can pass on to you, while most offer a 5-10 day grace period if no one else is requesting the same diamond.
In summary, it is best to schedule the in person diamond review when you are ready to commit on the center stone. Once you select a diamond, we ask for a small deposit to show good faith and will take the diamond off the market. Book a finalization meeting here.

This process is a bit non-traditional but it is the way we chose to work because it ultimately provides our clients with the best value, and more options and flexibility. This is one of the main reasons why we are different, we try to be unbiased, up to date, and we don't push you on old inventory because we already know how nerve wracking the process may be. Instead, we listen to your needs, and get to work to find the best option for you based on our deep rooted experience in this industry. We compare with our best suppliers, and even they aren't so keen on this but eventually understand that a business can only be successful when we put our customers first. We genuinely care what you think and that you feel confident working with us.

3: Custom Designing (or choose from the curated selection in our showcase)

One of the most notable hallmarks of a fine piece of jewelry is in the details of the craftsmanship. Our goods are created using the most innovative 3D custom technology. All one of a kind, not mass manufactured or retrofitted to fit a standard mould which can compromise structural integrity and overall quality of build and aesthetic. Our experienced CAD designer who specifically specializes in jewelry design creates your ring, custom tailored for you and built precisely around your center stone with no gaps and built to your finger size whether it is .25 or .75 increments in size. It is then 3D printed using the state of the art 3D printer, printing your design in the most precise micron layers to ensure intricate details and features are not lost. Learn more about our custom design process here and how we passionately and artistically create each piece for you using some of the best tools in the trade.

While this is only a glimpse of the process, there are so many ways to work with us and we are flexible! Please do not hesitate to reach out to us and we will do our best to guide you in the best way. Send us a design inspiration picture or just let us know what your goals are like "I want to save time and money and get the best 2 carat round solitaire I can get" :) ! We'd be happy to start the process of curating and providing you with information, price ranges, and videos what's available at the moment. Of course, we'd be happy to jump on a call or video chat at any point in time to discuss options and whatever you'd like, even the weather :).

Talk to you soon,
